A window box answers one commercial question: how does a buyer see the product without a member of staff opening the pack? For a tie, where colour and weave are the reason to buy, that question matters more than for a boxed accessory.
Structure
A rigid board base and lid, with the lid cut to take a window and the film patched behind the cut. The window is set into the lid rather than the base, so the product is seen through the top when the box stands on a shelf. Where the box is displayed flat rather than standing, the window moves to the largest face instead — the two are different structures, not a rotation.
Window film
PET is the standard: clearer and stiffer than PVC, and it does not yellow with age the way some PVC films do. PVC is available where a softer fold is needed around a shaped cut. Film thickness runs 0.35–1.15 mm, and the choice is driven by the cut shape — a simple rectangle can take a thin film, while a cut with tight corners needs a thicker one to avoid stress marks.
Where the film meets the board
The patching is the part that fails first. The film is adhered to the inside of the lid around the cut, and the margin between the cut edge and the adhesive line has to be wide enough to hold without showing a glue line through the film. This is why window boxes usually need a slightly wider border than a print-only design, and why a very tight layout may need a different closure instead.
Print and finish on the lid
The printed area competes with the window for attention. Where the tie is the hero, the print stays to a logo and a single line of copy, and the finish is matte so the film reads brighter against it. Where the box carries range information, the window shrinks and the print area grows. Both are workable; they sell differently.
Ordering
Standard MOQ is 3,000 pcs per design; other quantities can be produced to order. Sampling takes 3–15 days, and mass production 7–20 days after approval. Send the tie dimensions, the window shape and its position, and whether the box will stand or lie flat on shelf.
