Jewelry boxes are sold on touch. Velvet is the material that does most of that work — it absorbs light, so the metal reads brighter against it, and it holds a fingerprint far less visibly than a gloss wrap.
Structure
Rigid grey board forms the base and lid, wrapped in velvet with the pile running in one direction so the surface reads evenly under retail lighting. The lid is a separate piece. Because velvet has pile, the wrap is applied with a directional plan: two panels cut against the pile will look like two different colours under a spotlight.
Insert layout
The insert is the specification, not an accessory. A ring box uses rolls — a slit through a padded cylinder so the band sits in the slit and the stone stands clear. An earring section uses a flat pad with pierced slots, or a stud board where the posts push through. When one box carries both, the layout is drawn to the pieces: ring rolls at one end, earring pad at the other, and enough clearance that a stud does not press the lid.
Send the ring band width, the stone height and the earring drop length. Those three numbers decide the interior, and they are the reason a stock box usually fails for anything above a certain stone size.
Colour
Velvet colour is a brand decision more than a production one. Deep colours — navy, burgundy, forest, black — make gold and silver read warm. Pale colours photograph better for e-commerce but show handling marks sooner. Where the box has to travel to a retailer and sit on a counter, the darker option usually survives longer.
Closure and finishing
A magnetic closure is the usual choice for a velvet box, because the lid closing on its own is what makes the pack feel expensive. A ribbon hinge or a lid-and-base fit are the alternatives. Foil stamping works well on velvet for a logo, though fine detail is lost in the pile — a bold mark embosses more cleanly than a thin one.
Ordering
Standard MOQ is 3,000 pcs per design; smaller or larger quantities can be produced to order. Sampling takes 3–15 days, and mass production 7–20 days after approval. Send the jewelry dimensions, the insert layout you need, and the velvet colour direction.
